Milan (DARSENA)

7th-12th JUNE
A MULTI-SENSORY
FLOATING
FOREST

DESIGNED BY
STEFANO BOERI INTERIORS,
FOR A GREENER CITY

Floating Forest is a green graft in the heart of Milan, created specifically for the Design Week 2022. Conceived as an ecosystem with 610 plants and 30 different species, it multiplies biodiversity and activates the environmental benefits related to urban greening, in connection with others green spaces in Milan. The Floating Forest is also a place for decongesting everyday city flows: an urban device that nurtures new forms of contact and proximity. A refuge from the hectic life, where you can sit, rest and regenerate. The project also aims to leave a legacy for the city of Milan: trees and bushes will be donated to support a regeneration project at Vettabbia Park managed by Soulfood Forestfarms Hub Italia.

The installation will be opened from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from June 7th to 12th
at Viale Gabriele D'Annunzio, 20 (Darsena) – Milan (Italy)

AN ECOSYSTEM
WITH 610 PLANTS

AND MORE THAN
30 DIFFERENT
SPECIES

The forest has been conceptually and physically studied as an independent ecosystem, where 610 plants and 30 species multiply biodiversity and activate environmental benefits related to urban forestry, in connection with other green spaces in Milan The forest offers not only an environment where you can rediscover the importance of biodiversity and the benefits of nature, but also a fully immersive experience, that through the scent of the flowers and the tactile qualities of the chosen species, involves all the senses. A range of trees, such as Maple, Birch and Apple, will be present, as well as bushes such as the Aronia Berry, Hydrangea, Mahonia and Pittosporum, and perennial grasses such as Stipa, Eulalia, Anemone, Daylily, Purple Verbena and Pampas.

Having greener cities is important to be more connected with nature, to give a better future to the next generations

The idea of a city without green areas is no longer an option. Have you ever tried to draw a rainbow not using the color Green? It’s not a rainbow.

Nature, green, are pure stress relievers. In the city without green, people are much worse off physically and mentally.
